Oregon Culinary hosts Wine Open House

The
Oregon Culinary Institute (OCI), a division of Pioneer
Pacific College,
will be hosting a wine
Open House on
Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 5pm to 7pm.
This open house, in celebration of all things wine, will
introduce participants to some fabulous wines and OCI's wine series
classes. Special
guest will be Barbara Phillips from the International Sommelier
Guild (ISG) who teaches the ISG Diploma program at OCI.

Beginning September
30th, ISG will offer Wine Fundamentals certificate
levels 1 & 2 as well as the Sommelier Diploma program at OCI's
Goose Hollow location in Portland.
Wine Fundamentals is a prerequisite to entry into the Sommelier
Diploma Program. The
Sommelier Diploma program is an intensive 6 month program held
once a week that is designed to be the defining benchmark for
wine knowledge in the hospitality industry.
ISG is the only professional body that accredits Sommeliers
by direct instruction.

-- An introductory course designed for the novice wine enthusiast
lasting 24 clock hours. Whether building on an existing career
in hospitality or enhancing your enjoyment of wines; the ISG Wine
Fundamentals Certificate Level 1 curriculum provides an introduction
to the basic aspects of sensory evaluation that are frequently
overlooked when drinking wine. You will study the different components
of wine appearance, aroma, and flavor.
WF2
-- A 48 clock hour course designed to build on your learning
from the ISG Wine Fundamentals Certificate Level 1. You will be
exposed to all elements involved in the wine business including
viticulture, vinification, and regional appellation laws.

Wine Fundamentals 1&2 are

SDP
