ONCE YOU HAVE ENROLLED at Oregon Culinary Institute, a financial aid officer will help you determine the best opportunities for your particular situation, and help you through the application process. There are several Federal Financial Aid grants and loans, scholarships, Alternative Student Loans, and payment plan options.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL AID
The financial aid process begins with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You can obtain a copy at Oregon Culinary Institute, or apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. This is a FREE form. You should NEVER have to pay for any Federal Financial Aid or Scholarship search. At the end of the application, be sure to submit it to our FAFSA Federal School Code: 016520 Pioneer Pacific College (Oregon Culinary Institute's parent company).

The FAFSA application requires specific information necessary to determine your financial aid eligibility, such as income, assets and household size. If you are a dependent student, you will also be asked to provide that information for your parent(s) as well. If you or your parents have unusual circumstances that are not allowed for on the application, please contact our Financial Aid Office to discuss your situation. Our phone number is 503-961-6200.

ALTERNATIVE LOAN FINANCING
Alternative Education Loans are offered by private lenders and have their own eligibility criteria. Fees and interest rates vary greatly. Interest rates are determined by your credit, and you can usually obtain a better rate by having a credit-worthy co-signer. The Alternative Loan programs that we use are the Wells Fargo Collegiate Loan, and the Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan. To apply on-line with Wells Fargo, please visit their website at www.wellsfargo.com. To apply for the Sallie Mae Smart Option Loan, go to go.salliemae.com/smartoption/.

PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS
We offer a term-based payment plan option for students or parents who do not wish to take out loans, as well as a monthly payment plan option for students unable to obtain an Alternative Loan. Find out more from our Financial Aid department.

"There was a lot of knife work. (The instructors) were right on in teaching us to work fast and neat and clean and the way we cut. The way we attack an onion, for example, there's a reason they train us at OCI and if I didn't have that, there's no way I could keep up." – Kelly Lucarelli, OCI Graduate Culinary Arts, and Commander's Palace, New Orleans, LA
